Reference-guided creation

Reference Image Generator

Upload a photo or artwork to guide an AI image, then describe what should stay, change, or disappear. Available controls and reference limits depend on the model you select.

Browse the prompt gallery

Reference images guide generation; they do not guarantee an identical result. Only upload material you are allowed to use.

What a reference image can guide

Composition and layout

Use framing, camera angle, spacing, or object placement as visual direction for a new image.

Color and lighting

Carry a palette, contrast level, or lighting mood into a different subject or scene.

Subject direction

Give the model clearer visual context for a product, character, material, or environment.

Style exploration

Combine visual direction from an image with written instructions for a new treatment or medium.

How to create with a reference image

  1. 1

    Choose a compatible model

Open the creation panel and select a model that accepts image input. The panel shows the controls and current reference-image limit for that model.

  2. 2

    Add your reference

Upload the image or images that best communicate the composition, subject, palette, or visual direction you want to explore.

  3. 3

    Describe the change

Use the text prompt to separate details you want to preserve from details you want the model to replace, remove, or reinterpret.

  4. 4

    Review and refine

Inspect the generated result, adjust the prompt or reference selection, and generate again when the first attempt does not match your intent.

Practical ways to improve the result

  • Say explicitly what should remain and what should change.
  • Start with one clear reference, then add more only when each image has a distinct purpose.
  • Choose an output ratio that fits the intended composition instead of relying on the source image alone.
  • Check copyright, privacy, likeness, and brand permissions before uploading or publishing material.

Reference image questions

Is a reference image the same as copying it?
No. It supplies visual guidance to the selected model. The amount of influence varies by model, prompt, settings, and source image, and the result may differ substantially.
Can I use more than one reference image?
Some models support multiple images and others support fewer. Caika displays the current limit in the creation panel after you select a model.
Will every detail stay unchanged?
No. AI generation can alter text, faces, objects, colors, and small details. Review important details and do not treat the output as an exact reproduction.
